All in the Family

Meet the newest altar server, our family giggler, who giggles at absolutely everything. I hold my breath during Mass that nothing will set him off...because once he starts he cannot stop.

He joins his older brother, who really, really likes to light the candles. And he's very professional about it...notice how close he's holding that flame to the box of tissues.

Oh, Bia! Don't you love it? It's amazing how this sacred responsibility makes them grow up. We had the biggest worries with our fourth son who was always the world's worst Mass wiggler. But once he got up on the altar, he was stock-still and straight as a poker. Divine Grace. &:o) God Bless your dear boy! Such an honor to be so very close to Our Lord!

One of our priests caught his flowing sleeve on fire while lighting the Advent wreath one year. He wasn't injured, luckily. But those outfits really aren't safe around open flame!

Oh my word, they're just so handsome! And I hear you on the fire thing. My John (our 7 yo) LOVES fire. When our friend Fr. Patrick has said Mass here at our house, John is the first one to bust out the candles and matches. And although he's not an official server yet, he's served a handful of times for Fr. Patrick and he loves it.

Oooh, and he also loves the incenser....shocking!
