Boys will be Men

Our 8th grader, who is as cute as can be, has been concerned lately. It seems that all the boys have had a growth spurt except for him. All the boys have gotten taller, except for him. All the boys have muscles, except for him.

The fact that Dad is 6'4" brings him no comfort. He wants to be tall now. He want muscles now.

Height we can't help him with, but muscles . . .

So, exactly one month ago my husband put him on a 3-4 times a week weight training program . . . they even took "before" measurements.

Tonight, one month later, they took the "after" measurements.

The results:
biceps increased by 3/8ths of an inch;
neck, by 1/2 inch;
pride (his and Dad's), off the charts.

L'immagine rende bene l'idea!!!
Ma perchè fino ad una certa età per loro va tutto bene: l'aspetto, i capelli, i vestiti e improvvisamente è tutto sbagliato?
Per caso stanno crescendo????

Hey! We both used Norman Rockwell last night!

I think the weight-training program should include lifting heavy garbage cans and pushing vacuum cleaners, don't you?

Um, could I come your way and have your husband whip me in to shape for my sister's wedding?....

And that is the sweetest little story ever!!! At this rate, those boys better watch out -- sounds like you've got one little buff dude in the works!

I do not have boys but I wonder if girls will go through the same thing. If so, I do not look forward to 10 years!!!

Tizi,

Non capisco. Ma forze sono stato cosi' anch'io?
O forze anche tu?

Sembra impossibile . . .

Gosh...they want to grow up so fast don't they? :( Sure wish it would last a little longer...

Thank you for the story...it gives me a little preview of things to come for me. :)

If it's any consolation, my three boys primped and spent more time in front of the mirror than their sisters. Then they went to college and the ball cap became the norm to avoid having to comb their hair before going to that early (8:00 a.m.) class.

Thanks for the chuckle!!! You're grand! cathy

Muy bueno! Y ciertamente, Rockwell siempre nos da una mano.

I was 4ft 8in when I started high school, and 5ft 8in when I graduated. Late grower, I guess, but that's all the taller I ever got. And the biceps, well let's just say I'm no weightlifter. :)

And I agree with Cheryl - Norman Rockwell always seems to capture life exactly how it is lived.

I hate to admit it, but exercising really does work. Good for him!

Beefcake in the works...am I allowed to say that?

Our second son is trying out for a second string Denver football league and all the talk here is about beefing up, gaining weight, etc. Good grief. And here I am trying to lose weight.

Kevvy likes those whey protein powdered drink mixes for healthy weight gain... *&:o)
