~1~ Selective Sickness
On Monday Timothy had two wisdom teeth extracted. All day long he lounged around looking miserable and not talking. On Tuesday he lounged around looking miserable and not talking.
Well, when I say miserable he looked like a forlorn chipmunk, but when I say not talking he did manage to mumble, and for two days we totally commiserated. But last night when he sat down to play Fortnite with his friends, we could hear him yelling from another room. And laughing.
Huh. Imagine that.
~2~ The Italian Garden Gnome
Once upon a time (a long, long time ago) I modeled for a newspaper ad. A new business opening downtown (River Gallerie at Fort Discovery) featured a weekly countdown to their grand opening in the paper, and because they were going with an international theme each week they highlighted a different country. When they asked The Italian American Club for someone to be in the ad, the club called my parents, who then signed me up. Before I knew it I was in a photography studio changing into an Italian-American outfit that wasn't even mine.
Ugh. Those clothes! My hair! That pose!
Then, for some reason the photographer stood on a ladder to take the photo from above, and as a result I look two feet tall.
When the ad was featured in The Augusta Chronicle, my loving family had a good laugh (ha-ha) and said I looked like a garden gnome.
EXCUSE ME .... make that an ITALIAN garden gnome thank-you-very-much.
~3~ Summer Sandals
Recently I was in Target and saw these yellow sandals. They were the ONLY ones on the shelf and ... get this ... they were my size. It was meant to be.
Then, my sister ordered these Ecco sandals online, and when they didn't fit her she passed them on to me. Again, it was meant to be.
~4~ The Titanic on the Canal
Whenever I walk on the canal, this spot always makes be feel like Kate Winslet in Titanic. Minus the sinking ship. And the icebergs.
~5~ Hollywood in Augusta
Guess who was in town filming a movie?
When I read they were shooting scenes on a downtown street where my brother and sister-in-law first lived after they were married, we exchanged the following texts:
~6~ Two Idiots
I like to listen to audiobooks when I hike on the canal. I most especially like to hike in the rain. I'm weird like that. Last weekend it was pouring when I headed out, and I loved every minute of it. At one point a man jogged toward me, and as he got closer we were both grinning like idiots. Because we were the only two idiots out there. And because it was marvelous.
~7~ This, I can handle
My parents recently returned from a trip to Las Vegas and Sedona. They brought me back a gift. I only have to water it once a month. I should be good.
